The Root of Clawfoot Bath Tub Appeal
Posted by admin on November 13, 2007
Modern fixtures seem to become boring faster than something with a little style. That explains the return of the clawfoot bath tub appeal when bathrooms are being renovated. No longer are people looking for oversized whirlpools bath tubs or colored matched fixtures. They want something different and so are returning to the older classier fashions of bathroom decor. The style of the clawfoot bath tub seems to have remained a favorite and more people are returning to them when updating their bathrooms. This is true not only for appearance sake but for practical reasons as well.
When it comes to the practical side of buying a clawfoot bath tub one advantage is that the tubs hold less water than the fancy whirlpools require to give you a jet air experience. The difference can be as much as thirty gallons per tub. But because of the shape of the clawfoot tubs a bather can still be covered to the shoulders with no trouble. So not only is it a good looking alternative it is a practical one as well. This certainly explains the return of the clawfoot bath tub appeal. The clawfoot tub is what is referred to as a free standing item. That is because it does not attach to any walls or to the floor. This makes cleaning around it much easier.
Another reason for the appeal of the clawfoot bath tub over the traditional bathtub is the choices they come with. These tubs are available in numerous colors, made of a variety of materials and in several shapes while still staying with the look of an antique clawfoot tub. But, the one thing a regular tub does not do well is fit into a small bathroom. Clawfoot tubs do that very well even leaving room, if you so choose, for a shower closet in the same room. These tubs can be small, at no more than three by five feet or as big as six feet by three and a half feet. It depends on the size of the bathroom and the budget. The clawfoot bath tub appeal will continue to increase as more people look to something out of the ordinary to put into their homes.
